Parker DuLany
"I immediately hit it off with Parker, who injected the Southern gentlemanly craziness from being born in Georgia and growing up in New Orleans and St. Louis into a wild artistic vision that beamed out from anything he touched, whether surreal paintings or songs he was trying to wrestle into an art form within a band." - Kris Needs, music journalist, liner notes from Wagons.
Some families are all bankers, or lawyers or farmers...my family are artists. My mother, my aunts, my grandfather, my sister, my wife, my children; all we do is create. I am quite proud of this attribute, but it is so common that it is merely a language to me. I expect it. The best art is an accident. In 1975, my art teacher entered a drawing in a state competition without telling me, I won Best of Show; this resulted in a full scholarship at Rollins College. In 1979 I accidentally moved to New York, and exhibited my work at Club 57; and in 2018 I accidentally was shown in the Museum of Modern Art. In 1980 a neighbor accidentally read some of my poems and in 1985 I won album and band of the year accolades in France. Accidental. Today I have over 10 albums of original compositions with a new one presented in 2019. Accidental.
